Description of Works

SERS were commissioned by / Sinclair Knight Merz for a RTIO Expansion Project to provide deconstruction advice and also undertake a Control Monitoring Program (CMP) for airborne respirable fibres at both the Cape Lambert & Dampier Power Stations during asbestos abatement work undertaken as part of the deconstruction of the Power Stations. SERS are commissioned to provide all clearance certificates during and post asbestos abatement works, independent of the contractor appointed, as per legislated requirements.

The works are to enable the SKM / RTIO to ensure their legislated obligations are fulfilled for the removal of asbestos on their project. The project is within the overall expansion of both Port loading facilities.

Works involved the provision of a team of deconstruction experienced personnel to provide technical support to the management team of SKM. Technical support offered on both asbestos issues and deconstruction methodologies in a coherent manner allowing the progression of works in a fluent manner.

SERS have been involved with this project since August of 2010.

Outcome

As a result of SERS experience with deconstruction, we are capable of offering extraordinary client advice on all aspects of dealing with asbestos abatement inclusive of legislative compliance. SERS is providing onsite laboratories at both sites with routine results and immediate advice where required ensuring a smooth and cost efficient project.
