SERS expanded into the Queensland market in 2014. Located in Albion, just 5km from the Brisbane CBD, the team offers the full range of services available including environmental testing and compliance monitoring across Queensland.

Specialising in asbestos testing, dilapidation surveys, monitoring and contaminated land services, the team provides high quality, end to end environmental services, led by Regional Manager, Richard Southam. The Queensland office has a NATA accredited laboratory for asbestos analysis in air, bulk and soils as well as accommodating a fully functional service centre for our monitoring equipment.

RICHARD SOUTHAM

Richard has been working in the Environmental industry for over eight years with experience, encompassing all aspects of asbestos surveying and remediation, dust, vibration and noise monitoring services and contaminated land remediation.

As a part of the SERS team, Richard has worked for a variety of clients, from the largest mining companies in Australia, large industrial and commercial developers to residential homeowners all over Australia. Richard commenced his employment with SERS as an Environmental Technical Officer and over the past six years has progressed through the company to become the Queensland Regional Manager. Richard is now responsible for overseeing all Queensland operations and providing the high quality of service expected from SERS to our existing and prospective clients.

Richard is a Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) Licensed Noise Officer, a NATA Approved Counter for analysis of air samples and a Licensed Asbestos Assessor. He has overseen the removal of all varieties of Asbestos from the built environment, including friable and non-friable materials from Mines Sites, Power Stations, Industrial and Commercial complexes to small-scale asbestos removal in the residential sector.

Richard has also managed the assessment and remediation of several ACM contaminated land sites for Local Government and property developers. Richard has experience working with Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA) while performing respirable fibre monitoring works within the floodplains of Wittenoom WA for a large-scale infrastructure project in the region. Richard was also the primary consultant for a large-scale remediation of fire damaged properties after the bushfires in Esperance, Western Australia.

Richard also has extensive experience in the planning, deployment and ensuring on-site compliance to specifications for the full suite of SERS equipment, inclusive of:

  • Real-Time PM2.5 and PM10 Dust Monitoring
  • Gravimetric Dust Sampling for Respirable and Inhalable Dust
  • Vibration Monitoring and Compliance to Client Specifications
  • Noise Survey Reports to DMP Standards Inclusive of Personal Noise Dosimetry and Environmental Noise Monitoring.
