WA Update May

 

SERS WA was recently contracted to undertake the management and supervision of the removal of an old asbestos containing roof from a Public Transport Authority former goods store located in the regional WA town of Northam.

The building had been unused for many years and had been subjected to vandalism and ageing materials making the need for all staff working on the structure on take additional safety pre-cautions.

Prior to the commencement of works, SERS management, the site supervisor and staff undertaking the works met onsite with the client to undertake a pre-start meeting to walk through how the works were to be completed. The installation of fall arrest equipment was also installed with all staff to be attached to static lines at all times whilst on the roof.

SERS was able to complete the removal works within the allocated time frames with zero injuries or damage to the remaining structure. Upon completion, a full inspection of the structure and surrounds was undertaken by a SERS Asbestos Assessor to confirm the removal of all asbestos containing materials from the roof structure, building footprint and surrounds had occurred with the issuance of a clearance certificate to our client to confirm the completion of works.
